The Korean Residents Society is a registered charity in England and our charity registration number is 1040160.

Though our society history originates as early as 1950's, we have officially registered in the Charity Commission in 1991 as a charity organizatin.

Our main objectives are the relief of Poverty, of the aged, and of disabled people (amongst persons of Korean origin resident in the United Kingdom and in particular provide full assistance to immigrants, and the resettlement of refugees), the advancement of education for the benefit of the public, and to promote good race relations between different races by encouraging equality of opportunity between persons of different racial groups, and seeking to eliminate discrimination on the grounds of race.

We have held the Kingston Korean Festival to promote good race relations between different races in and around Kingston area where many Koreans living together. The Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames (especially New Malden area) has one of the largest expatriate communities of South Koreans in Europe, and is said to be one of the most densely populated area of Koreans outside South Korea. According to different sources, the Korean population in the area is around 20,000. There are around 42,000 Koreans (including Korean origin) living in the U.K.

The Korean Residents Society is recognized as the official organization representing the Korean community not only in the Kingston upon Thames area but also in the whole of U.K. We are closely associated with many other small and large Korean organizations in and out of the U.K.
